Food Gift Delivery service starting with Z?

There's an online store that has exotic foods and gourmet food delivery clubs but I don't remember the name. I know it starts with a Z though. Can anyone help?

Are you thinking of "Meals with Zing" through Omaha Steaks? Just go to Omaha Steaks and then to Meals with Zing. They're becoming Omaha Steaks Meals with Zing.

What is a proper tip for food delivery?

What is a proper tip to give for food delivery such as pizza, diners, and chinese food? I usually give around $2 or round up to the closest two dollars. What do you think is appropriate? Thanks.

i usually give 3 bucks and they all seem really happy with it.

Well consider this:

They make minimum wage, if that. The delivery charge is sometimes theirs, sometimes the restaurant keeps 1/2 of it and the drivers use their own personal vehicles. Keep in mind the distance from the restaurant to your house, considering gas which they have to pay out of pocket. If you usually give $2 tip to a pizza delivery guy that comes from 2 blocks away, it's not fair for the chinese delivery guy who drives 4 miles to you just for the same $2.

I personally always tip 20% of the total bill or a little more, like I would a waitress. They went through the same trouble like a server, if not more, getting the food to you.

$2.00

Home delivery for anything, we give $2.00

It depends on whether or not they charge for the delivery. If it's a free delivery $2 is good. But a LOT of places in my area add a delivery charge of as much a $2.50. That is how the drivers get paid. I usually only give them a buck.

standard tipping calls for 15-20%, but with pizza and the such, I normally do $1 per item

when we order from work we all throw a dollar the drivers way. but at home i usually give a dollar and change to two dollars. if the bill was 18.64 then he/ she would get 1..36

Pay Rate for Delivery Food Delivery in California?

I'm planning on starting a food delivery service in California and was wondering what is a fair wage rate. $8.00 an hour?

Should gas be paid on a per delivery rate (ie. $1 a trip) or on a fixed amount based on an expected MPG and the current gas price?

What is the time spent for each of the following events:

Picking up food at a restaurant.

Delivering food to a customer.

Traveling between the restaurant and the customer (2-5 miles).

Thanks!

First, Minimum Wage + tips is a good scale to start with. If you start getting requests for a specific driver that person my deserve a raise.

Second, Car expenses are normally calculated on the number of miles driven. A number that will pay fuel costs and so forth for an average auto can be had through AAA. Remember, if the driver uses his/her own car for business they need a different insurance than if it is strictly for private conveyance. All those costs, gas, tire, oil, tune-ups, insurance, depreciation and so forth will run an owner at least a $1.00 a mile.

As for the time expenditure, that will depend on a number of things. How fast is the restaurant, how fast is the driver, what sort of driving conditions prevail etc.

Good luck on your endeavor.

How much do you tip food delivery guys?

I read that the pizza guy often has to pay his own gas and use his own car. So, he deserves a tip at least for that, if nothing else, right?

But they also charge a delivery fee. What does the delivery fee go to if not to pay for the costs of delivery , such as gas?

Do you tip food delivery people? If so, how much do you usually give them?

(For the record, I usually give about 15%)

I would tip a minimum of $2. Have to order at least $8 worth of food in north jersey to get it delivered. On bigger orders 15 or 20 percent seems right.

between 3 and 6 depending on how much I order

tip?......hahahahaahahahahahahahha.........

Our pizza place is about 10 minutes away and they get to drive a company car. Some places add $1 to your bill and it says it is a delivery charge. There is another pizza shop right across from the other and they also get a company car.. But anyway, we tip them 5 dollars everytime!

well if they are cute than about 5-7 bucks

if older people ( 40 or higher) than 4-6 bucks

if any other than 3-8 bucks

My dad tips them like, $4 bucks if we spend about $20 for pizza.

i dont tip cause they always late

I usually tip anywhere from 5 to 10

Give him 5 bucks depending on the delivery fee!!!

5 dollars

I want to start home delivery of food from fine dining restaurants please help?

Hi there i am planning to start small business of food delivery, can any one help me in guiding doos & donts. Also how should i set up an agreement with these restaurants & what margin of GP you would look at these kind of business. I have few contacts already,,, should i also need to make my web site just for marketing pourpose. If anyone has details please email them to me at shailesh.1976@gmail.com.

Thank you

I don't know if this is that great of an idea. It sounds good but if you are delivering from multiple places to multiple residences the time expectation is going to be high. This will compromise the quality of the food. Lots of things aren't delivered because they won't taste right after being transported. Pizzas work well because they need to rest after being cooked. Anything fried won't be good after about 10 minutes. Salads that would normally be served on a chilled plate will get soggy and warm during a car ride if they are packaged with hot food.

How are you going to deal with complaints and replacements? People that order from you are most likely going to call the restaurant to complain. If you are making a delivery from somewhere else how are you going to find time to correct these problems.

Most fine dining managers with some sense aren't going to want anything to do with you. If you are delivering their food they need to have extra liability insurance to cover you if you get in an accident. Also, if someone gets food poisoning from something you deliver who would take responsiblity for that. Anywhere that caters has to have their food transport vehicles and equipment inspected by the health department. Plus if the place already caters they probably don't need to outsource the shipment of their food. If you plan on delivering on a smaller scale like a few dinners to a family how much are you going to tack on as a delivery charge? If its more than $5.00 no one is going to be willing to pay that and tip too. If you only get a few orders a week its not going to be worth it. Since you are your own company you wouldn't get paid by the hour. If you are delivering for multiple restaurants no one wants to support their competition.

Would people call you to place orders or the restaurant? How would you deal with several people ordering from different restaurants?

Your best bet is to just get a job as a delivery driver for a place that already does deliveries. Part of the appeal of fine dining is the atmosphere and service, neither of these things could be included with home delivery.

If you do plan on pursuing this you really want to contact your insurance agent and the local health department.

Agree! She said it! I've been in the food industry for 40 years. The liability is too high and the majority of owners would not go for this. Not too mention the price of fuel... How were you intending to make money?

citykitt gave you the best answer. I was in the food business for 30 years and I cannot add anything to her answer. She deserves the 10 points.

How much should you tip a Chinese food delivery man in NYC?

I usually order about $15 worth of food at night. Delivery guy use a bicycle, not a car. I also wonder if delivery man also get money from restaurant too.

I tip depending on how far he has to go, and what the weather is like.

Also - I live up three flights of stairs, so I add a little extra for that too.

Round up the change from the bill and then add $2 - $3.

I generally don't tip on percentage of bill because it doesn't always have any relation to the delivery. But if I had a really big order and there were multiple bags, I would probably add another dollar for that.

you order every night, so a couple bucks a night is good enuf.

tip him like you would a pizza guy. If it looks like it took a lot for him to get there, tip him more.

I think about 10% of your total is suitable. 10% of $15 is $1.50 but give more if you want.

.20 cents for each dollar spent.

$2.00

I would tip him 5 dolla's.

However much you want really. xD

I usually tip about 10% of the order unless it's raining or snowing and then I'll throw in an extra dollar as the poor guy has had to go out in the lousy weather because I'm too lazy to cook or go our and he's doing all the work.

I would tip between 3-5 dollars. It's really not your problem if he rides a bike thats his choice.

The only time i tip a little more is in bad weather.

Wait they delivery Chinese?

At least $3. $3 is 20%. You should call the restaurant and ask if there is a delivery charge and if the driver keeps the whole charge.

Two Dollars is customary.

More if he is a regular.

I think a decent amount is 10 - 15%. Therfore tip him $2. Only if it arrives on time and they have sent the right meal!!

it's your money,so do whatever you feel is appropriate.

i'd usually give a buck or two cuz of my low income.

I usually tip the chinese delivery guy about $20. Sometimes more cause i have 6 people in my family and our bill comes up to like $50.

30 dollars
